The Tesla Model Y Entertainment Guide: Family Road Trips and Charging Stops

The Model Y is the family car of Tesla's lineup, so this guide leans on what matters with passengers: long drives, charging stops and something for everyone. The software is the same as the Model 3's, so our Model 3 guide covers the basics in more detail.

What Tesla already built in

In the US, Tesla Theater has tiles for Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Twitch and TikTok. Since late August 2026, Tesla's browser also opens HBO Max, Paramount+, Peacock, Apple TV, Disney+, Plex and Prime Video (through amazonprime.com) full-screen, without the browser's toolbars. Availability varies by region and software version. Tesla Arcade has its own games, and the lineup depends on the car.

One screen for the whole car

Typing addresses on the car's keyboard while everyone waits gets old fast. Open teslastreams.com in the car's browser and you get one screen with:

• Streaming services. Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, Paramount+, Peacock, Apple TV, Hulu, Spotify and Tubi, each opening that service's own website.
• YouTube and Twitch on the page. Search YouTube, browse channels, or pick a live Twitch stream, all through the official players.
• Live TV. Free channels from Tubi, plus live news from YouTube.
• Radio and podcasts. Live stations from around the world, and any podcast by search.
• Games. Six of them, our own: chess, checkers, Four in a Row, sudoku, 2048 and Glitch Hunt.

Two players, one screen

Chess, checkers and Four in a Row all have a two-player mode on one screen, so two people can play each other at a charging stop. Each also plays against the computer. Sudoku, 2048 and Glitch Hunt are single-player and work well in short bursts. Our games guide has the details.

Road-trip charging stops

Most road-trip stops are short. A free live channel, a podcast episode or a round of Four in a Row fits better than a two-hour film. For longer stops, the streaming tiles take you straight to each service's own website, where your account remembers where you left off. More in our Supercharging guide.

The rear screen

Newer Model Ys have a rear screen for back-seat passengers. It has no web browser, so TeslaStreams, like every website, runs on the main screen. In October 2026, owners reported that a software update blocked a workaround that opened YouTube on the rear screen, so don't plan a trip around one.

What's intentionally absent

The games are our own: no emulators, no ROM libraries. We also don't take IPTV playlist links (M3U, Xtream or otherwise). Both are common in this category, and both sit in a legal gray area we don't want to put families in.
